I did a repair job to fix a broken gauge cover of my Lezyne travel floor pump yesterday. My colleague cut a piece of plastic with a laser cutter for me, and it fits perfectly on my pump.

Speaking of pumps, I actually bought a bigger pump a few month ago. It’s SKS Rennkompressor floor pump, and I love it. The Lezyne travel pump still does its job to pump up high pressure tyres, but I find my new German pump is much smother and steadier to use.

I will keep my new pump from Germany at home as it is a better everyday pump, and I am going to leave the Lezyne travel pump at  my work place. I get a flat tyre on the way to work from time to time, and it will be nice to have a floor pump at work to fix punctured tyres. I carry a little hand pump on my Brompton which came with the bike, but pumping up a high pressure tyre with it is painful and torturous, especially in a late afternoon after everyone else has left and I got left alone.

昨日は、壊れた空気入れの修理。ちょっと倒した際に、あっけなく割れてしまった圧力計のカバー。同僚が、レーザーカッターで替えの物をアクリル板からカットしてくれた。さすがはレーザービーム、コンピュターに寸法を入れるだけで、ぴったりはまる物が数秒で完成。

空気入れといえば、ドイツのレンコンプレッサーというフロアーポンプを数ヶ月前に買った。それまで使っていたレザインのトラベルポンプもきちんと仕事をこなすが、ドイツからやって来たポンプの方が格段に使いやすい。ピストンの動きがスムーズで力を入れなくても簡単に空気が入る。

家に空気入れが二台もある必要がないので、レンコンプレッサーは家に常駐させ、レザインのポンプは、職場に置いておくことにする。先週のことだが、仕事が終わり、さあ帰ろうと思ったら前輪がパンクしているのに気づいた。誰もいない職場でパンクを直し、自転車に着けてあるおもちゃのようなハンドポンプで、何度も何度も空気を入れている時の寂しさといったらありゃしない。
