A vintage camping stove which had been buried in our closed with other forgotten things. I think my father bought it for our family camp in one summer holiday. I vaguely remember that we got to the camp spot late, and we ended up eating dinner at a local restaurant instead. Since then the stove had not been used.
I took it out for the first time on a bike camp this year. It worked perfect for something being left for many years. It has a stamp saying it was made in 1991.
1991 was the year when Mikhail Gorbachev visited Japan. He was the first leader of the Soviet Union to visit Japan. Later in that year, the Soviet collapsed.
In 2022, we are seeing the war in Ukraine, and today we heard the news of Mikhail Gorbachev passed away.
Has the world become a bit better place since?. Rest in peace, Gorby. May the peace prevail.
